The tortoise got irritated after hearing the rabbit’s words, but still said, “What if I walk slow, if we race, I will beat you.” Hearing the tortoise, the hare was surprised and said, “Don’t joke with me.”
The hare agreed with the tortoise. The next day, the rat was appointed as the referee. A field on the bank of the river was selected for the race. A mile away from there, a banyan tree was considered the place where the race would end.
Before the start of the race, the referee mouse came and made both of them stand at their places. “Attention!”, said the mouse. The race has started. The hare ran at lightning speed and on seeing it, he went far away.
Seeing the movement of the tortoise, all the animals started laughing. The rabbit was running fast. After reaching about half a mile, the rabbit looked back. But the tortoise was nowhere to be seen.
The hare thought: ‘The tortoise is far away now. Why not eat some grass till then and take some rest.’ The hare then ate some green grass and drank water from the river. After that, he lay down under a tree and started resting. After some time the rabbit fell asleep.
The tortoise continued with a slow speed towards the finish line without stopping. The hare slept for a long time. As he woke up, he ran fast towards the finish line. But when he reached there, the hare was totally surprised. He was stunned to see that the tortoise was already there. The hare had lost the race. After this race, the hare never made fun of the tortoise.

Moral of the Story
The fast and consistent walkers always win over the slow and steady walkers. It means it is good to be slow and steady but it is even better to be fast and consistent. For example, if there are two types of people in the office, then those people are always ahead who is also fast and are also consistent in their field.

From this story we get the moral that first know your strength and work according to it, you will definitely get success.
Wait, the story isn’t over yet…
Part 3
After so much race, now both the tortoise and the hare became good friends. They both began to understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Both of them thought that if they both supported each other then they could win any race. So both of them finally decided to run together again. This time they both decided to work as a team and not as a competitor.
Both stood at the starting line. Get Set Go!! And immediately the hare lifted the tortoise and started running. They soon reached the bank of the river. Now it was the tortoise’s turn, the tortoise made the hare sit on its back and both crossed the river comfortably. Now once again, the hare picked up the tortoise and ran towards the finish line. Together they completed the race. Both were very happy and satisfied. Never before had the two of them found so much joy in a race.
Moral of the Story
Teamwork is always better than individual performance. No matter how strong a performer you are, you cannot win every match on your own. If you want to win consistently then you have to learn to work in a team, apart from your ability, you have to understand the strength of others.
Another thing to note here is that both The Tortoise and The Hare did not sit down in despair after their defeat, but tried to understand the situation and prepared themselves for the new challenge. While Hare worked harder after his defeat, Tortoise changed his strategy to convert his defeat into victory.
